Saysay Samson Kamara
Saysay Samson Joseph Kamara, Science teacher, and author died on February 28, 2020, at Washington Hospital Center from heart failure at the age of 69. Samson was born on April 20, 1950. He was the son of the late Pa Alpha and Na Thullah Kamara. Samson was born and raised in Sierra Leone, West Africa. At a young age, Samson lost his mother, and he was raised by his father, late elder brother and sister-in-law Peter and Fatu Kamara.
He graduated from Kolenten Secondary School, Kambia, Sierra Leone. Upon graduation from secondary school, he went to Njala University, Sierra Leone, and he taught science for several years before becoming an assistant principal. He was the first principle of Barina Agricultural Secondary School Makali, Sierra Leone. He moved to England for additional studies and obtained two postgraduate diplomas, two master’s degrees and two education teacher certificates. He taught science in Birmingham, England for several years before emigrating to the US and settling in Providence, Rhode Island. He taught in Providence Public Schools as a science teacher for 19 years before retiring in 2016. He then moved to Washington, DC. He was a man who loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. He came from extreme poverty to someone who went to the best universities in England. He loved gardening, reading, and writing. As an author, he left several books unfinished.
The viewing and funeral service for Samson will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1029 Monroe St NE, Washington, DC 20017. Immediately following the funeral service, Samson will be buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20906, with a repass directly to follow at Kings & Priests’ Court International Ministries, 520 Randolph Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
